Default My failed attempt at a sensible winter 4x4

This was my attemp at getting a sensible deisal 4x4 or the winter

Well I did want a 5 door for the dog, shovel and grit when the time comes. But thought what the hell the scoob once again ticks all the boxes apart from petrol consumption, which is a small price to pay if its something thats fun driving.

Got for a good price, running STI top mount, P1 turbo, 440s as standard, induction kit, Bailey DV, prodrive BBox, but currently being strangled with CAT downpipe and centre section. But pulls strong at about 15psi held, but not as strong at the saloon I just sold n, but will work on that

Its claimed to have a a rebuild as well, but no proof or receipts so who knows.

Looks like I have sorted a Decat centre section, and think I have a bellmouth sorted now as well. So happy days crawling about under the car one weekend again.

Car came with some gold 17" OZ type multispokes but tyres are low and wheels could do with a refub, but will serve well as some track wheels until I can refurb them in grey myself.

I'm looking to put back standard DV and Airbox, and once I'm happy everything is spot on and given it a good service, this should double up as a nice track hack as well, and might book myself up for the 1st Dec Brands afternoon.

Thanks - yes mate, its a MY99 with facelift. Its the only year classic I would touch TBH. They always seem to last much longer than earlier scoobs and always seem to be screwed together better and they look better

The way I look at the facelifts is it was the last of an era, and therefore Subaru fine tuned everything on them before moving onto next shape, lots of little things like i swear the gearboxes are stronger than say a My97/98, has the 440's, 4 pots, ali header tank etc.

Yep the gearbox apparently came with wider oil channels so they dont over heat as much

Looks good

no would have to be another blob as interior space even tighter in a hawkeye,so can you get the blob first and then realise you made a mistake then you can sell that to me and then go for a hawk that might keep ya happy lol

No mate. You failed at failing. Scooby wagons rock. Especially for winter and a dog. Top marks.
