Default Charity Summer fun day - Sunday 7th July

This might be short notice and a bit of a strange one, but I've been approached by Cats Protection, a Sussex based charity, to see if we would be interested in taking some scoobs (or other nice motors) along for a summer fundraising event.

The blurb on their website is:
Quote:
Join us at the National Cat Centre for a fun-packed day for all the family including: a live band, classic cars, VW campers, a bouncy castle, stalls, raffle and tombola, tours of the adoption centre, facepainting and more!
http://ncac.cats.org.uk/EventFull.as...&m=3422&f=7133

Quite a few of you will know that I used to work at Cats Protection for a long time doing IT stuff, and they know i'm a scooby nut - hence the request. Apparently they've already got some classic cars, VWs, MGs etc and they're looking to get a couple more local car clubs along - its a family day out but they want something extra for the blokes to look at whilst the women are looking at fluffy kittens There'll be a BBQ and beer tent, but there's also a good pub about a minutes walk away if you want it

Last year had over 1000 visitors but it was a wet day, they normally get double that if its dry. Recent years have raised between £3000 and £5000 for charity. Its a lovely surrounding - the grounds are over 50 acres set in Ashdown Forest next to Chelwood Gate on the A275 (postcode RH17 7TT). There's a nature trail with a lake and woodland, and a decent cafe all onsite. Entry is free, and it runs from 10am-4pm (although everyone is free to leave whenever they like).

I know its something a bit different, but let me know if anyone fancies it

Not sure now as taking the wheels to get refurbed this week, hopefully I can get them back before the weekend though.

Scoob is currently on track tyres courtesy of CJ (not road legal, so tucked up in the garage).

Seven?

It starts at 10am on Sunday, but i'm sure we could roll in sometime around 11am if we want to get there a bit later. We'd have somewhere reserved for us to park when we arrive, but its a very casual thing by the sounds of it. Turn up, have a wander round stalls and stuff, nosey at any classics cars etc, visit the bbq and stroll round. Once we've seen it all, we can bugger off!

Just hope i get my wheels in time otherwise i'm in with Ginola i guess! Expect Claire will come too (she loves any excuse to go look at all the kitty cats....).

Ok cool, sounds good Steve, the weather looks good too.

Yeah seven lol, we used to have nine but lost two beginning of the year.

These aren't normal cat's either, these are maine coons!! the biggest domestic cat you can get.

It's safe to say they rule the house lol.

Thanks for the offer mate, but as i said in my text earlier i should be getting back on the road on Saturday

Good thing you're on 17" STI wheels. If your tyres were 18" you might get it back with a nice set of nangkangs on it instead

You have to keep on top of the hair Steve otherwise as you say it just gets everywhere lol.

Are we meeting there or meeting up before hand and turning up together??

Easiest thing to do is meet in the car park of the Red Lion pub in Chelwood Gate - its pretty much next door to Cats Protection and will be quiet at this time of day. We can then just drive in as a group.

The pub is on the A275 and between Wych Cross and Danehill (in case anyone doesn't know where Chelwood Gate is) - postcode RH17 7DE

Hope you have a great time. Unfortunately I cannot make it as I'm away with the family for the weekend. I'll be coming past at about 10.30 and so will wave if I see any of you.

Glad you guys could make it along

Lovely to sit out in the sun (and then the shade when the sun got too much!!) just chilling for the afternoon, enjoying food, ice creams and a bit of music. Bit different from the normal scooby gathering but glad you enjoyed it.

Can just imagine the neighbours reaction when you start calling for scooby to come back in for the evening!

If it was around lunch time we were probably round the back of the main office building having a picnic under the trees in the shade, or wandering around somewhere.

A nice RB320 that we didn't recognise appeared in the car park whilst we were there so that got a compliments slip under its wiper (all i had in my car).
