Default SES Ring trip 2009

Having recently read that the ring is 4 hours from Calais (thought it was further), I realised it's actually quicker to get to 'The Ring' thnit is my parents house.

Hence this a spurred me on to costing up a ring trip.

The Ring is not open to the public all the time - it's used for all sorts of other things, like manufacturer test sessions, training schools, private hire days, etc. Indeed, the Ring is generally only open to the public on weekday evenings, a handful of weekends and the odd half-day here and there.

So bearing this in mind and also that the 2009 calendar is yet to be published.
I thought sometime like May 09 would be good.

That way a weekday trip with evening outings around the ring will have ample daylight.

Example Costs to get over to Calais are £112 retrun via EuroTunnel on May 13th returning May 16th (these are provisional dates and purley used to get prices).

A Hotel close to or at 'The Ring' is about €45 (single room) or €75 (Twin Room) per night.

Ring Costs are :
2008 Price in Euros Sterling equiv Sterling per lap
Single lap €21
4-lap ticket €70
8-lap ticket €135
15-lap ticket €235

Oh yes please. Dover Dunkirk on the Norfolkline it cost less and it makes the journy 20 odd miles closer to the ring

Well done to Scott for developing this idea. This will be an event not to be missed, except by those who don't go!

Can't wait to get dates confirmed, I think we need Nige to lead us there to make sure us Ring virgins don't get lost in France/Belgium.

There you go now M3 is no more. Mind you i was lucky. As Scot knows i was down on power due to a melted pipe leading to the actuator.

Ive only been once! As for getting through France/Belgium I had two sat-navs and my other half reading a map. Belgium was bad. Im sure we will all get there one way or another. The Belgium Police really love Scoobys NOT

So, to throw a date out there to people.

What about last weekend in May? That way it doesn't interfere with the Bank Holiday?

Suggest that we Leave Friday Morning (29th May) and return on Monday 1st June?

Thoughts?

I have sent an email to this hotel for price and availability. http://www.hohe-acht.com I stayed there last year nothing fancy good beds & a better breakfast. It may be helpfull, price wise if someone on here could spraken the deutch. Ferry price depart 8am 29th Dover Dunkirk return 1st June 8pm £49.02 not bad. If you look on Ben lovejoys site there are plenty of hotels and rooms to choose from. May weekends will get booked up fast so its time to get a move on. Nige
