Default Nikon D800

I came into work this morning amid a torrent of e-mails for the new Nikon D800.

I am seriously thinking about upgrading the D700 for one of these

Nikon D800 Digital SLR
Nikon's newest format DSLR with groundbreaking 36.3 megapixels and the powerful EXPEED 3 image-processing engine offers imaging potential that rivals some of the best studio cameras, but with the agility and durability of a Nikon digital SLR body. Depict the slightest change in light or shadow, on a piece of jewelry or in the glow of human skin. Still images reach a completely new height with unprecedented depth and details, both indoors and out.

Nikon's exclusive 91K-pixel RGB sensor enables the Advanced Scene Recognition System to detect human faces even when shooting through the optical viewfinder, adding even more of an edge to your AF, AE and i-TTL flash performance. If your workflow demands broadcast quality video with high-fidelity audio recording, D-Movie will satisfy even the most demanding clients. Moreover, the D800 shoots 1080p Full HD in both FX- and DX-based formats, offering cinematographers total versatility.

The EXPEED 3 image processing engine with 14-bit A/D conversion and 16-bit image processing offers superb tonal gradation. EXPEED 3 manages massive amounts of data at faster speeds than EXPEED 2. Even with specialised processing features like Active D-Lighting and high ISO noise reduction, capture speed is not affected. EXPEED 3 is so powerful that it handles data-intensive tasks such as Full HD video recording at 30p with ease. Still images and videos have minimal noise and even richer colors and tones. In addition to these fundamental advantages, the D800 reduces the kind of color phase shift that some cameras have difficulty with in similar situations.

36.3 megapixel FX-format (full-frame) CMOS sensor with high signal-to-noise ratio, wide dynamic range and 12-channel readout
ISO 100–6400 extendable up to 25,600 (equivalent) and down to 50 (equivalent)
4 fps consecutive shooting in FX/5:4 crop modes. 5 fps in 1.2x/DX crop modes
Multi-area D-Movie records FX- and DX-format Full HD (1080p) movies in 30p, 25p and 24p.
Max recording time approx. 29 minutes 59 seconds.
Offers uncompressed HDMI output to external devices and high-fidelity audio control
Multi-CAM3500FX 51-point AF system: individually selectable or configurable in 9-point, 21-point and 51-point coverage settings.
Sensitive down to -2 EV (ISO 100, 20°C/68°F)
EXPEED 3 image processing engine with 14-bit A/D conversion and 16-bit image processing for superb tonal gradation
8 cm (3.2-in.), 921k-dot LCD monitor with auto brightness control anti-reflective, with wide color reproduction
3D Color Matrix Metering III: 91k pixel AE AF sensor with full-time face recognition
100% viewfinder coverage and three Crop Modes: 5:4, 1.2x and DX-format, with viewfinder masking
Quiet shooting mode: perfect for discreet photography, the sound of the camera's mirror return mechanism is noticeably reduced
Highly accurate and durable shutter unit: standard rating of 200,000 cycles, with a maximum shutter speed of 1/8,000 sec and flash synchronization at up to 1/250 sec
Storage media: High-speed CF and SD dual card slots, compatible with the latest, fastest cards.
You can also use two cards simultaneously for a number of functions such as recording JPEG and RAW data on separate cards, recording the same data simultaneously for backup and more.
Built-in i-TTL Speedlight: GN / guide number approx. 12, 24mm lens coverage
Durable Magnesium alloy body - moisture and dust resistant.
Many important parts of the D800 have been designed to achieve better durability and lighter weight.
The result is the D800 is as reliable on the road as it is in the studio.
Wireless LAN and Ethernet support via optional Wireless Transmitter WT-4, enabling you to transfer image files using either WiFi or an Ethernet connection.

Converts to £1895.00.

That's a no brainer for me then

When I went last time, I went here http://www.bhphotovideo.com/

I bought a D90 body for my Daughters boyfriend, a Tokina 12-24 2.8, a battery grip for my old D200, various filters and a Manfrotto monopod. All for less than I would have paid for the D90 back here at home.
