Default Headlight bulbs newage

Hi,

I go through a headlight bulb every couple of weeks - it's not on particular side, it's random.

The bulbs I've been buying as replacements are cheap ones, around a fiver for 2.

I'm going to buy a set of decent ones to see if they last - Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Foz

I just use Halfords own, never had a problem, make sure you don't touch the glass, I put them in with clean lint free cloth.

if still happens, sounds like maybe an alternator voltage regulator problem maybe. Water/damp in the headlamps, dodgy earth.

Also Osram are good bulbs.

I normally used Halfords too but recently got some Osram bulbs from powerbulbs.com. After 2 months both bulbs failed simultaneously one morning. Contacted the website, sent the failed bulbs back and 3 days later they had sent me some foc bulbs, same ones as before. They are still working fine to this day so must have been unlucky or had a bit of a random power surge. Great service, bulbs are good and the price seemed ok too!

One of the headlamps gets moisture inside (only recently) but funnily enough that one hasn't failed for a while.

Is there a way I can test the alternator voltage?

Cheers

Osram nightbreaker plus are superb - re the moisture in headlight it shouldnt be an issue as i was forever dipping my landy in water and the nightbreakers never blew despite swimming pools in the headlights at times - i had 6 pairs on the front of the disco so they all matched when lit up ,, 2x main beam ,, 2x dipped , 2x spotlights ,2x fogs and 4 x rooflights ,,, nightbreakers are excellent value for money
