Default Jaffas 2.5 classic, chat

For a while now i have watched my oil pressure drop(well that my excuse to the misses)

After driving a 2.5 in a classic couldnt get over how much torque is had and how fun it was.(460/450)

so i just purchursed a Ej257 block and some sti3 heads/cams
my goal is 450/450
md321t turbo witch is a bolt on turbo.
i will be uprating rods/pistions ect i will over spec just incase i want more in the future.
will keep you updated how it gos with some pics.

Hi Tone, Soz I've not got out to you to wire the ECU in. been v.busy decorating 24/7 at moment. Havn't even cleaned the Scoob since the Goodwood meet.

Brad called and mentioned you were after a gauge for the Inovate widebande.
This is the guy I use for all my inovate bits and is very reasonable.
Just send him an email and he accepts payment via paypal.

Richard Ingram at EFI Solutions : rningram@gmail.com
Ebay shop : http://stores.ebay.co.uk/efi-solutions

I have the 52mm G2 Gauge Silver Face, which is a stepper motor style with full sweep/cal at start-up as per the Defi. They do a Black or Silver face. The backlight is white, but I will probably crack mine open and change to green at some point, to match the dash.

Not sure what dash you have, as they swapped from black to white at the back end of 98.

P.S Just spotted they now do a G4 Gauge with white face...Hmmmmmm !!!!!!

cheers guys.

scott theres no rush mate when ever you out mapping up my way. i quite like the look of the digital one
CLICKY

because there is know way of telling what heads you got due to all the castings being the same. you have to trust the seller.

Today i took the cam cover off and made sure the heads are sti3 (underbucket shims) ones and they are aslo checked cam profiles as well all ok

A very messy engine bay removing old gauges. also removed air con as well.

i have fabricated my knock link in my air duct.

wires and bits every where at the moment.
avcr in wired in to the ecu wireing.

cleaned engine ready for build.

bottom

i have been speaking to mark @ lateral performance about my spec, possibly might get the 2.5 relinered to make it even stronger so i can see over the 500 mark in the future.

waiting for prices...

also in pic thermo inlet manafold spacers. these will lift the manafold higher so i can squeze the turbo pipe underneath the inlet manafold and will stop heat soak into the manafold as well.

still invetisgating both at the moment they seem to be popular, the only reason i wanna ditch the apexi is beacuse i want to go mafless. too much hassle setting up blow through maf, and dont do a maf sim for the apexi. + more features antilag, lanch control switchable maps witch both the simtec and the solaris.

as for price
simtec is about 1100
solaris is about 1400
would be intrested in your veiws scott

Not used the simtec or know anyone using one, but very popular. Although figure they wouldn't be so poular if it didn't have the additional £140 ALS and Launch control gimicks.
They are dealer fit & map only

I did enquire about using the simtec, but got f-all response from the dealer
this was about the same time I was looking at becoming an ECUTEK dealer, but required a £5000 out-lay, but at least ECUTEK responded.

Glad I didn't go for it thogh as the market is pretty dead at the moment, unless your JGM and are willing to travel all over to map (not sure how he covers his costs TBH).

Solaris 'appear' to be user/non-dealer mappable as the S/W is downloadable, but they are very new and the forum is very light on posts so far.
Only looked into it as far as that i.e 1/2 hour google earlier this week.

hi nige i am changing all tensioners and guide pulley as a precaution as well as the water pump. the ones on my 2.5 were ok no play not nosiy but not worth the risk.
as for head gaskets going for 1.6mm and been told to aim for 8.35:1 compression ratio

i am going for 1-5 ppg straight cut box and a OS Giken twin plate clutch (comes with its own flywheel)

aiming for the 500 mark but anythink over 450/450 with quick spool is my main aim.

my next steps will be sorting my sti heads out new valves/springs/retaners/ and port and polished/ shimed up. going for dh22 cams and rcm pullys
