Map out fault code?

I’ve got an 07 WRX and live near Epsom, Surrey

The engine warning light came on and my mechanic said the fault code is to do with the exhaust gas recirculating system. He said the bill to replace the valves will be upwards of a £1,000 and it could be easier to map out the fault code.

I’ve tried to read up on the issue and have seen the mention of blanking of the valves! Is this essential? seems like a lot of effort as the car still appears to run really well.

Any thoughts.

Secondary air pump issue I assume? What was the fault code?

If it was that, then there's more info here :)

Sorry for the delay in responding, manic day !! Thanks for the response.

I knew that might be the next question , I can’t remember the code and will have to get it read again.

The fault was thrown up a couple of years ago, so bottom line is I’ve lived with it but I’m eventually determined to get it sorted.

Will update when I get the code read again or I find my notes I made last time.

On my bug you could map out codes, which basically just stopped the mil light turning on for a specific code, though if you scanned for codes they were still there.

The codes can be mapped out, i have just made some blanking plates but have not got to fitting them yet. Think Scott t said he knows how to do this. You will have to take the fuse out to stop the pump running as well.

Thanks for the advice so far, I’m away for the next week so will back online when I have codes.

Scoobykev 04-09-2018 12:14 PM

I’m back with codes at last.

P0410 secondary air system function
P2433 secondary air pressure sensor, high
P2432 secondary air pressure sensor, low
P1410 secondary air combi valve, seized open
P2441 secondary air system, seized closed bank 1
P2444 secondary air pump on, malfunction

Any thoughts !

Kev

I think one of your valves is stuck open/closed. I had this but recently
I purchased a couple of replacement second hand valves, I replaced the valve on bank 1 and it cleared my p code, also the management light went out. I then cleared all the codes and have not come back.
Didn't have to get it mapped out or use the plates I made.

If its bank one then it's much easier to get to the valve.

Sound promising and well worth a go.

Do you know the details of the valve and a place to source one.

This one on eBay. Make sure it's the same part number as yours though. Bank one has a larger plug on the top, bank 2 has a small electrical plug.
Mine was for a 2.5l wrx hawk, shame your not more local, could have swapped it over to see if it's the cause.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...31b79567d1.jpg

Thanks, I will let you know how I get on. I recon it could be a few weeks though until I do it,

Thanks again, Kev

Bought it off eBay , fitted it last week. The fitting was far easier than I thought it would be.

Took it back in to local mechanic, cleared codes. Engine light back came back, but with now only one code showing!

P2433 secondary air pressure sensor high.

Any advice on where to go from here would be greatfully received.
