Default SES. CHRISTMAS DINNER 19th December

After quite a few phone calls I have decided that the Christmas meal will be held at THE WOODMAN.
http://www.thewoodman-idehill.co.uk/

Its fairly central and has good road links to the SES area.

To make this a more sociable event at this festive time of year I have thought about making this an evening event, so that peoples other halves can come along and not be bored out off their brains standing round in a cold car park whilst we talk scoobs.

The meeting time will at 7.00pm.

Please let me know your thoughts about having a nice relaxed evening meal,
as opposed to a lunch time meet.

Yes I sure do.

£19.95 pp

That includes 3 courses, the menu is not yet published but I have spoken to the Landlord and he assures me its special, it will soon be available on the pubs web site.
They also have a full menu alongside the Christmas one.

I am looking forward to this meeting.

There should be plenty of places in and around Sevenoaks which is only about 3-4 miles away.

I thought that it would be more sociable to have an evening meal, so people can dress up a little if they wished to and celebrate the coming of Christmas.

But if people would prefer a lunch time meeting please let me know on this thread, as I said on my original post.

We obviously want as many people as possible at the meeting so I will go with the flow, the decision as they is yours.

I just think we should cater for the majority. And the majority seem to be saying afternoon.

I am happy doing either, but we have to consider what most people want to do.

It is only a suggestion but would you not be better of finding some were you can stumble into say like a brewers fayre with a holiday inn attached or a beafeater with a travel lodge ?

I am always open to suggestions.

I have thought of that, CJ.

Personally I prefer home made food rather than mass produced, and seeing as its the Christmas meal whats better than a nice country pub? I agree that if it had a travel lodge next door it would be even better.

This meeting is not fixed in concrete as I have said members suggestions are welcome.

OK I'll say yes to this Sian will come too but ideally we'd like somewhere with a crashing option, it's a long drive back and a long way to go with no beer at the end!

Been looking more closely and the most sensible hotel option I could find was in Sevenoaks and was £120 a person - with a £10/15 taxi ride to get there from the Pub without working out what to do with cars makes this a very expensive night out!

Whats that taxi price for? My m8s a cabbie maybe able to sort out something more sensible, or see if hes interested in doing some shuttle runs from the pub to B&B's or whatever.

This is the Christmas menu, however i do believe you can also choose off the normal pub menu,
BIG E will need to confirm, as he has been talking to the pub owner,

I couldn't say 100% to be honest. Ian (BigE) has dealt with this.

I could pretty much say that it is right, as Ian would have changed it before he left for his hols if it were different. I will send him a PM regarding this now, so that when he returns he can post and let you know.

Cheers

Worzel

Mexico (Cancun) flights are usually Saturdays or Tuesdays, so should be back tomorrow / Sunday or Tuesday / Wednesday I believe.

Hi, everyone I am back.

Well this is looking good .
The tan should not have faded to much by the 19th, I have got a specially bleached white shirt and have ordered a fluorescent light just to make the tan show up more.
We had a great time in a fantastic venue, the weather was superb, I just wished son Steve, could have been there.

I am looking forward to this Christmas meal, I have just seen the menu and its looking good, the pub is also offering its normal menu.

Seeing that this is our Christmas meal I think that it would be nice to dress up a little.
Christine my otherhalf is asking what she should wear, so I think smart casual would be good..

What are your thoughts on this ?? 'T' shirts or smarter dress as I know that people like to dress up a little at Christmas??

At the end of the day as long as we have a good time, thats what counts.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask as wear a shirt and tie all week.
I will go with the flow, although I stop at rubber, spandex or anything with leather/studs.

Due to the current weather and road conditions, I would suggest that you follow the directions from the link below. ie go in from the A25 end.

http://www.thewoodman-idehill.co.uk/findus.htm

At the moment there is a small convoy going from Hasting leaving from The Harrow at 6.00pm.
We shall be going straight up the A21 and possibly doing a pick up in Tonbridge. Then onto The Woodman.
