Default Fugly

My new project. As you know I've bought this off Dave with the engine out. I haven't even seen the car yet. Dave sounds like a sensible chap & I'm normally a decent judge of people. So it starts FUGLY the hatch.

Few things bought today. Head bolts, ordered a Mocal 19 row oil cooler through Dan, lateral oil pump, baffle plate all safety stuff really. Will add more when I know more really.

You've got a good one, seen it many a time and it's only recently that it's had a load chucked at it

It's a very nice looking car and looks menacing in that colour! Sure it'll go as good as it looks once you've had your way with it!

I think this Scoob has been responsible for changing a lot of peoples opinions on the hatch, so great to see it staying local.

Look forward to seeing what you do with it!

Still haven't seen this as yet. Things are moving on ok now I hope. Car is now going fully forged Lateral rods are on route to Dan. Apart from the crank it's all new. Heads are away somewhere being checked over. Will get it run in as soon as & sort any issues I come across on the handling side. When I'm happy the power can be cranked up.

Sounds like you will end up with a great car there, by all accounts with the right setup the hatch's can be one hell of a road/track weapon.

Loving the whole look and stance of the hatch. Personally the pipes look a bit OTT for my liking and like the OEM quad look. But bet that sounds the dogs and good for plenty of power.

So which one you keeping ?. Hawk or Hatch ?

H&S as advertised on here. Rob I can see what your saying. A bit of black exhaust paint might sort it. I will wait untill I see it in the flesh so to speak. Not keen on the quad pipe set up. To many pipes & no burble. Something this ugly needs an edge & that burble is fuglys edge. I also think it may surprise a few people on the road. I mean take that sti badge off & it could be any jap hatch. Once mapped its not going to be slow or shouldent be anyway. Sort suspension & brakes & with that new engine should be job done.

I know I pointed you at these pipes on Ebay, but seeing it on the car I'm not sure. Looks a bit like my wheel barrow.

However, I suppose the good thing is you won't be showing too many people your pipes.

Those wheels suit it quite well, what colour wheels would you go for if you changed them?

Nice one Nige,I like the Rota Grid Drift, but your current Rota looks good too,I would leave them

Speak to Mags@RTS about the re-doing them in different colour and if you are looking for Grid Drift speak too with Mags

Well it's here. Dan the man delivered it (thanks again Dan). Car sounds sweet & runs nice & smooth. Done a few miles today & will be out again tonight total so far 85miles.....= 915 to go. Not sure on the exhausts as yet (sound good) but the rear light's don't look as bad. However it lives up to its name (fugly) when your passing a shop window I don't bother looking.
Very strange feeling to be in a hatch that burbles.

It's a marmite car Nige. Does feel weird to drive & is comfy though.

Like I said, anything you need just give me a call.

I like the look of the hatch. Always have done.

Hope you enjoy the car. I saw it when I was at Dan's and it is tidy. It was a way from finished when I was there. Think Dan picked the heads up after finishing the FSTi's service.

Quite envious to be honest!

I think it's a great looking car, really have warmed to the Hatch especially dark STIs.

A couple of pics after a bucket of water

The good news is Fugly handles better than I thought it would. I'm liking it a bit more now.

As I've said before I went to far with the Evo for what I needed. Now I don't worry about gearbox's, transfer box's or diffs. Scoobs also use eighther a better protection on there mettle work or pay a bit more attention to it. I'm quite happy at the moment with the hatch so we will see what happens once run in.

The hatch must be warming to you as your calling it a hatch now and not fugly. Give it a few more weeks and you will be on first names terms with it and loving it. Lot to be said having a car that you can just grab the keys and drive. Rather than fight with it or worry about how highly strung it is.... The only things that lets the hatch,s down for me were the weak engines, and thats been sorted on yours... Flog the hawk and just enjoy the hatch....

Wheels now fill the arches. Exhaust's taken care of + some under bonnet treatment.

A bit of free advertising for Dan.

Just some cheap satin black stuff. It really has improved the back end. There's a guy who lives near me who loves his Scoobs. He has a blue blob wagon & when I pass he smiles & gives me a wave. I've now passed him twice & I know by the look on his face he can hear a Scoob. He just doesn't relate he Scoob burble to the hatch. It's so funny looking at him turning his head wondering where the noise is comming from.

Nothing exciting just an update. Fugly is nearly run in now {only took 4 months} has had 2 oil & filter changes in that time & all is well so far. Ive been in touch with jgm for a re map. Due to possible house move im not spending out on new turbo's or suspention mods. So the car will have new pads ordered from Alyn at Asp {Ferodo ds 3000} I like them. Thats it no big power & std everything else. So when we get on track at the Ring you guy's with the big bhp should be waving bye to the old fugly. I will end up crying into my pint wishing i had bought that bigger turbo.
