Apart from 1975, when I went through 9 cars, I tend to hold on to my motors for quite a long time, e.g. Mk1 RS2000 (the last car from 1975) 9 years, 3-door Cosworth 11 years, STi IV 5 years, T25 7 years (so far).
So I need to experience something else, and I'm looking for ideas. Not worried about mpg as it will do minimal mileage, but what car should I own? My own thought include: Lotus Europa TC (one of the 1975 cars, but was a disaster, but still have an itch to scratch though), Porsche 944/968, MGB (had 12 spridgets, but never a B). Budget would be £10-12,000. Last edited by XRS; 02-11-2012 at 06:14 PM. Reason: Trying not to annoy those who had a good, old-fashioned eduction! |

No Tim, I've not tried an E30 M3, partly because, I guess, I was into BTCC in the 1980s and the M3 was the opposition. I do think I could be tempted by a TR6 though. Saw the one on Wheeler Dealers and liked it a lot. Even though it's a Triumph, and I gave up on those back in 1973 when I sold my Mum's Herald and bought a Mini Cooper (frying pan/fire come to mind).
Scimitars have never done it for me, I'm afraid. Keep 'em coming ![]() |

At some point the old Capri will make a come back. RS3.1 will be very hard to come by. Maybe a good 3.0S or a Brookands 2.8 Injection. Triumph Dolomite Sprint 1st of the 16valve cars with a single cam. 1st edition RS turbo. 3 door Cossie. Early M5? My Hawk & keep it for many moons

Must admit I got very tempted with a mint 3.0s capri a while ago. Not sure whether my knees will stand up to rolling across the bonnett tho
![]() I love all the old Fords, but as you say Phil, you have had most already, and nice to have something you havent had before. |

Done the 3-door Cossie, and almost bought the early RS turbo, but spent some time driving a mk2 version. Probably not the thing I'm looking for. M5 is a possibility, but a bit big for my liking (and garage again). Your Hawk? Nah, I've had a Scoob for nearly 13 years now and probably won't have another, though I do know a local dealer who has a MY09 T20 for sale ![]() |

I'm sue you're still young enough for a bit of bonnet action Steve, but yes, something different would be good, though as I said in my OP, although I had a Europa TC in 1975 (for 8 weeks before it broke BIG time) I would still like one if they weren't so expensive.

MGB V8 1995 - 1996. Very nice car to drive, Plenty of tuning potential (Engine was very lazy from memory).
Genuine ones were 46kg heavier on the rear end than a 1.8. Go for the pre rubber bumper version with the correct chrome rimmed wheels. Don't know what they fetch these days but from child hood memories a cracking car. The other one which has to end up in my stable sooner or later will be a V8 TVR of some sort. Can't beat the sound of a V8 (Hence why I have 4 American motors as well ![]() ![]() |

Agreed on this,I've driven older E30 M3 and must admit great car, just sometimes you will find the problem finding good example for 10k.
MB W201 190e EVO seen few times on the Hill Climb in Czech Republic(with Judd V8) and love the sound, standard 190e EVO is great car out the box But still would love to have BMW 3.0 CSL "Batmobile" Jura

Mitsubishi Wide Arch Starion Turbo EX.
Only because I had one once and loved it even though the engine went pop. But that was because I was running a bleed valve at the time and silly boost. Went well though ![]() Or Lotus Talbot Sunbeam but again only because I had a sunbeam TI at the time. |

Hmm, yes a Lotus Sunbeam could go on the long list, never tried one but I like the idea.
