Default New turbo, where to get?

Hi there, I'm trying to get a new turbo, apparently andy Forrest is the place to go, but iv been trying to contact them since Monday, called about 9 times a day, left messages and sent emails, kind of assume they don't want/ need the business.

I need a td04 or close equivalent direct fit. And with a year warranty for a reasonable price, any suggestions?

Cheers, Nick

I have heard that it's sometimes hard getting through to Andy Forrest.

When I have brought stuff from him I have not had any problems, maybe I'm just lucky?

Speak to Mark at Lateral, he will definitely look after you.

I know mate, they went rare or anything, the issue is that first of all I can't upgrade due to insurance , iv modified the car ALOT already but they won't cove anymore mods so it got to be very very similar to a td04 and also Iv spent over 4000 quid on the car in the last 6 months just trying to keep it on the road, so I want an brand new turbo with a years warranty, I can only find one turbo that meets these needs and that's on andy Forrest but I can't get hold of him

But surely a brand new one with a years warranty is going to be big bucks?

A used TD04 from a decent seller can be had for £50-80, they're pretty robust turbos tbh. You're looking at £450 for a new Andy Forrest TD04.....

Send Andy an e-mail.

He's often mapping during the day, so can't answer his phone.

i couldn't get hold of andy in the end so i ended up pleading with my insurance company ......

managed to convince them to let me get a TD05 - 18g from scoobyworld

http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog...f8e741083e72f1

just a quick question, is says on the product

"This turbo has excellent spool up characteristics and provides awesome mid range power over the smaller TD04 and TD05-16G units. Fitted with a performance thrust bearing system this turbo can handle boost pressures of up to 2.0bar."

does this mean that it has a Performance thrust bearing fitted or does it mean if i get one and then fit the bearing then it will hold up to 2.0Bar???

cus im guessing that over the TD04 i had that could make a nice little difference to power combined with the Forged 2.2 litre engine ECT. after the remap ......

Nick

2 bar on a TD05 will be way outside its best efficiency, I wouldn't believe all that hype, just think of it as a 360-380 HP turbo with supporting mods and a decent map

Just clicked the scoobyworld link and they claim up to 350HP for that unit, whereas the Harvey Smith or Andy Forrest 18Gs can and do produve 360+. Suggests to me that the compressor wheels and covers they use might be of a different type.

JAW have proved that not all 18g's are equal.

For up to 350HP you could buy an old TD05 16G for £50, send it off to Andy Forrest or Harvey Smith and they would recondition it for you, change it to front entry and give you a guarentee for much less outlay, and will deliver up to 350HP
