Help! Found a pipe that's not attached

I've spent the morning changing my water hoses and after burping the system and then going for a drive, my car now has a peculiar whine with the turbo and it's a little jerky. I haven't floored it to see what happens as I don't want to make it worse. I've found a pipe that's only attached at one end but no idea where it's meant to go. Hopefully this is the source of my problem and someone can tell me where it should go.

This is the passenger side down the side of the intercooler. The hose is the small rubber one on the right of the orange water hose.

I'm pretty sure it's a push fit wherever it's come from as there's no jubilee clip on it.

The situation is now slightly worse. Just took it out again and I got about half a mile then the car wouldn't accelerate and finally spluttered to a stop. Tried unplugging the maf and it ran ok to get me home. Have I killed the maf too?

Tickover issue is now sorted. Hadn't done up one of the big pipes under the intercooler. So now, it just has this funny whistle that goes with the turbo spool on acceleration and the rogue pipe. Still not accelerating properly. Also, the brake pedal went hard at one point.

Random hose is a breather apparently. Just the whining noise to worry about now

I'm sure it's not supposed to go to anything mate, I had a pipe exactly the same on my bugeye and I only noticed it when I changed my clutch, it didn't cause me any issues though so might be a completely different pipe, it looks exactly the same though and in the same place. I take it you've gone over all the pipes to make sure they are tight, did you change the boost pipes aswell? As some of the cheaper makes can expand/ contract under boost. Have you checked dump/recirc valves pipes? Could also be actuator pipes with a pinhole? Sorry if none of these help but worth a shot I suppose

I've just been told there's a non return valve in the brake servo hose, that'll hopefully sort the brakes issue.

I'm looking over everything I can see. Boost pipes are all original and pretty sure I didn't touch them apart from the ones on the intercooler.

Definitely a boost leak somewhere. Cel is on and only boosts to about 8psi with a whiney noise. Wish I'd never bothered now!

If youre brakes are going hard since its got to be a vac pipe leaking ?

The brakes was the servo hose in the top right. It has a non return valve in it, or should have. Put the old pipe back on as I don't want to cut it out then find it doesn't fit in the new pipe.

Oh right ,, and the brakes are ok again now ?

Yep, they're fine now. Was a bit touch and go when that pedal went hard!

Yup ill bet ,, had that feeling before when the pedal just goes rock hard ,, very umm disconcerting !

Sorry i cant help anymore ,, havent had mine to bits at all so not sure which bit is the likely culprit but sure someone will suggest something before long
