Bit scary mate
The drive down there and back is going to be hilarious dressed up as this lot!

We will have to go to the ring dressed up once as well, just viewing mind, we don't want our capes flapping over our eyes while we are roaring round the ring.

In fairness to them, as long as the faces aren't covered they don't mind.

So I would suggest that no-one comes as the gimp from Pulp Fiction

Well maybe it ought to be me that sacrifices the superhero costume. Do you think they will let in Secret Spy? After all, my weapon is made of plastic!

Secret Spy doesn't wear trousers - they get in the way of his equipment.

Right guys, just so you know whats happening, I have e-mailed Jaqueline to ask about the bank holiday and so on.

Because we are looking at potentially 20 cars and maybe a few more yet I have stated that I will insist on ALL people who want to come next year should again pay a deposit in advance. We are potentially looking at booking the hotel just for us after all and I think that it's only fair to play ball with her.

Below is the e-mail I sent her, I will update when she replies.

Hi Jacqueline

Firstly, I would like to say thank you on behalf of everyone who came to the ring and stayed with you at the end of May / Beginning of June. We all had a really great time.

We are in the process of getting things arranged for next year, well in advance because we want to stay with you again. So far we have a list of around 20 cars that want to do the trip.

In the first instant, I was wondering If you were able to advise me on the German bank holidays around that time for next year? As we would prefer to avoid it if possible. Again we are looking end of May / Beginning of June, so what ever suits you best and avoids the bank holiday will be good.

I know that you said that now we've been we wouldn't have to worry about deposits. But I would rather we insist on this as it makes people commit to coming. There would be nothing worse than getting near the time to arrive with you and have 5 or 6 cars pull out and get away scot free. So I will tell everyone that it will be the same as last year and pay up 50% deposit in advance.

I will be sending you a photograph of the final day line up that we took outside the Hotel soon.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Regards

Steve Green

50% of the hotel costs = 68 euros per night (this years prices) may go up next year ??

The advanatge of going on a Bank Holiday is that the track will be open on the Monday.
Until we see the Track Calendar for next year, which won't be available until Jan 2010, we cannot commit to anything.......

I think everyone is getting a bit carried away at the moment.....

P.S wouldn't mind going out for the 24hr Endurance Event and camp on site.

Well said that man. I only started this to get an idea not to commit this early. It's good to see that 20 + would like to go though. Roll on 2010 calendar. Worzel's palace is much better than a tent i mean who would make my breakfast.

No one will be able to book anything untill the calender for 2010 is published.

You never know when the track may be booked for corporate/testing days etc.

Hi people. I have had an e-mail back from Jacqueline in Germany.

As below:

Hello Steve,
I am glad that you all enjoyed yourselves. It was fun having you all here.
I have had a look at the bank holidays and weekend of the 28th May is not a bank holiday.
Would that suit all of you?
Look forward to hearing from you soon again.
Kind regards
Jacqueline

I thought you might like that little ditty

In case you didn't recognise it, it's the opening line from the Wurzels Classic "I've got a brand new combined harvester"

And just like you, back on topic (or any other choccy bar for that matter) yes, that's good news indeed. I wonder if there is anyway of getting some kind of heads up, as to whether or not there are track days or something going on that weekend.

I will endeavour to find out.

I've had a trawl around with regards to 2010 tracktime etc. And as predicted, there is no information as of yet.

I am going to respond to Jacquies e-mail and ask a couple of questions of her.

For the guy's who went last time they will understand what i mean. When i say It all went a little to quick. So how about go Friday come back on the Tues/Wed. There seems to be aprox 20 names down so far so we would have to split in to 2/3 groups. Im sure some will want to come back on the Monday for work reasons & some that would like to stay a little longer. What do you think?

Def need to all get on same ferry and then split into groups for the journey down, all meet up again once there.

Get your names on the fancy dress list guys and girls

I would be up for extending to the Tuesday for sure.

Totally agree with the split into groups thing. We could try to stay together as long as possible, but as long as the 3 groups of whatever stayed together, then thats cool.

Also agree about all being on the same ferry and all trying to board together. That would be very cool

No, I think Worzels scraped just a little bearing in mind he had just lowered his scoob with new coilovers.

It was that low the tyres rubbed the wheel arches on full lock .

Mine was ok also.

Provisional 2010 opening times are released December/January and only firm up around February/March when the weather improves.

I'm back out in 4 days This will probably be the last real trip of track work for my Impreza though, I've bought a MX5 with a mate and we're preparing it for track. I think I may notice a difference going from a 330bhp PowerStation fettled Impreza to a 115bhp hairdryer I won't however miss the 5 laps to a tank, brake and tyre costs!!

To be honest I'm falling out of love with the place, it's gotten quite bad in the past few months and a completely different place to even this time last year. I'll still be going out frequently this year as laps are 'free' but I'll be thinking long and hard about buying another Jahreskarte next year.

It's not something the average occasional visitor would be aware of but Nurburgring GmbH have become very over zealous in the past few months with 'their' track.

If N-GmbH haven't got their fingers in your business then you are the enemy. Due to how much over budget and over schedule they are with the new Nurburgring development they are doing everything they can to make as much money as possible and it's having a determental affect in my opinion.

It started with their war on car rental companies other than their new official car rental partner. The car rental companies are having their cars turned away for any possible reason. My old company had a car turned away for a chipped windscreen. Rentals with road legal semi slicks have been refused entry on hot sunny days due to 'safety issues' with the tyres.

No tuition is allowed during Touristfahrten unless by their official partner and even then getting it in English is a challenge unlike with another certain car hire company which offered tuition in English, German and Dutch.

A certain company that developed the trackwalk idea has had that cancelled recently with less tha 24hrs notice and N-GmbH have decided to do their own.

After suitably pissing off the car rental companies N-GmbH have now decided to focus on the track side photographers. These would often sit behind the armco, take your photo and offer them for sale. Now if any one is caught anywhere other than behind the 10ft FIA safety fences their details are taken. If caught a second time the police are called and threatened with being prosecuted for trespassing.

One of the beauties of Touristenfahrten is getting passenger laps with people you meet there. This is no leading to people getting banned for giving 'illegal taxi laps'. A guy I know bought his Jahreskarte (€1075) on the Saturday morning and had it confiscated by the afternoon for giving free passenger laps to people in his group.

Basically it's all gone tits up which is why I'm back working in the UK and not over in Germnay.

Currently this week end fits in with the majority, can i suggest you post up alternative dates and get everyone that is going in 2010 to put there name down, we may find that there is another weekend that fits in with all of us.

The Jahreskarte covers the holder to drive any vehicle on the Nordschleife. N-GmbH's problem was they thought he was giving illegal taxi rides i.e. charging for laps. N-GmbH have their own Aston Martin for taxi laps at €295 per lap or there's the BMW Ring Taxi, only these companies are allowed to give taxi laps during Touristenfahrten. Luckily they saw sense the next morning and returned his JK the next day after the situation diffused.

Chris

That was the date in May that was given by Jacqueline at the hotel that is not a bank holiday around the time we want to go. I also presume it's the best weekend she could take a big booking from us, as I had pre warned her that the list was already up to 20 cars.

If I am being honest, I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else when I go down there, and I think that anyone who has been down there and stayed there will back that up. The people on our trip last year who didn't stay said that it was vastly different to their digs. Mark83 I'm sure would back that comment up. He knows Jacqueline and also other places, so unless she could come up with another date I wouldn't entertain it.

I'll see what she says about alternantive dates, but she only gave this one when I asked for dates around this time (refer to the e-mail I sent her a few pages back) so I presume that was for a reason?

Steve

On the dates jacqueline sent you it could be a case that you went the same weekend and she thought you wanted the same , options would be good

I will ask her for alternatives for sure. But I asked her for end of May / beginning of June, no German Bank Holiday and able to take about 20 cars and she only came back with one weekend. she had a 4 week window to choose from and only came back with one.

But I will ask her the question tomorrow via e-mail.
