Cheers Ian going to pop down and see a Mr Steve Whiteson of SW Motorsport as I know I can't go wrong with him building a replacement engine just means beans and toast for the rest of the year lol .

Sorry to see this Scotty.

Great to see you're going to crack on and sort it. It's a really nice looking example, so deserves to live on.

Best of luck with it.

To be honest I don't care about costs it's the effort I have put in her to get her to this stage I'm not letting it go this time so I will be up dating with what is going on in my project thread .

Well that just proves the known fact that Subaru's can't handle high speed/sustained high speed abuse. Hence why I always keep it below 110mph on that stretch.
Worzels done the same but on the other side of the road.

It wasn't the same car park Nick, it was about 5 miles further up the road (towards Belgium).

But echo what Scott says, they don't like continued high speed runs. I did a couple of 140mph fly-bys but kept things down under 100 most of the time.

I can get a STI 03 plate long engine which had a rebuild by API 11k ago when it had just done 74k and also a STI 05 plate long engine with 76k I know I can't use my inlet mani but is there a lot involved when fitting it with new age mani into my classic .

Surely you'll only want a short engine as unless your going for something like a Syvecs you won't be able to utilise the AVCS heads.

How much do you think AVCS heads are worth peeps as I won't be needing them as I will confirm over the weekend once spoke to Steve and Matty .

For the time , effort and money Id not bother . Just buy a newage sti bottom end and stick your heads on with Cosworth stopper gaskets and some updated head studs .

That's the plan C.J but can only find sti long engine at the moment with low mileage and it's been rebuilt .

Buy the long engine and sell the heads for two reasons
1. You may make a little
2. The engine won't of been left open with the possibility of crap getting in

My Type R is based on CJ's suggestion and Dave's + 1.

JDM STI V7 bottom end. Rock solid. With plenty of 140 + pulls ; ).

I guess they wait until they've got enough to fill a whole transporter and then send them over in one go....

No, only takes a week or two to prep for trip, only reason the classic didn't come this year is I couldn't decide what wheels to put on it............... Honest.

Just got off the phone to the company that is delivering my car to me . I asked is there a date for delivery they said no well I replied that I have been informed the date is the 12th of this month they replied doubt that and I replied I've booked that day off work so get it sorted so they are going to phone me back .

Hope its not too much grief and they get it sorted for you mate! Make sure you give the car a proper checkover (inside and out) when you get it back before the driver leaves.

Don't worry about that Steve I took plenty of photos before I left and will be doing a major inspection to feel for any dents , marks and all that good stuff .

I'd go 2.0 or 2.1 as well, if you ever sell it it'll be worth more than if you go 2.5 as less people want them. If you putting £££ into the rebuild you might as well get it right

If you go 2.5 get them to de stroke it using a 2ltr crank so in affect it's a 2.35
But it's your money

+1 the torque is nice from a 2.5 for the road but it's not really what you want on track or what people will want on resale.

Glad she's back but a pain about the wheels, are they just scratched from the straps? Or actually damaged?

Actual damage on one them looks like it's been kerb , deep scratch marks on another on one of the spokes , chip taken out on another one will be giving them a wash when I get home to see if any other damage to them .

Disgusting service - and gutting about the wheels - I hope they sort it out for you

Did you check mileage before taken and now back - perhaps some little scrote has been taking it for a blast - have heard stories like that before! - hope not though...

Blimey that's just crap, strap marks/light scratching is difficult to avoid if the driver isn't considerate with padding the wheels but kerbing and chips etc isn't on.

Some of us on here might have photos of your car/wheels pre-damage with German stuff in the background (road signs, other cars etc) if it helps the AA cough up for a refurb?

Doubt they'd get far, they'd need to drop a new engine in first
