Hmm....the one I should never of sold. The only RS still around fron the link above is the Cossie.
The Series One went to heaven 18 months after I sold it, but not sure why.
I had the RS1600i for 5 years. It was sold via the Hastings Hot Hatch Centre (run by Nige) and dissappeared for a bit. RobEvo5 then turned up on my drive with it and I think he continued to run it for about 2 years (a long time for Rob to keep a car).
Last record I had of it was it was SORN and Brighton area. But now it's gone.

There was more than 1 Black one and also a handful of Rosso red ones to celebrate the Datapost sponsorship they had in the BTCC or saloon car championships (whatever it was called in 85/86)

Nope Series 1.
I actually viewed a Red one at a specialist family run RS dealer in Horsham in about 1994.
Series 2 were just massed produced XR3i with a turbo and a set of Recaro.

Series 1 were B C and D reg with these overlapping on reg with the series 2.
Early series one had no indicator repeaters on the front wings but later ones did due to new regulations.

Any colour as long as it's white, if you're special it can be black, maybe red or a remote possibility of grey.

ok joking aside what where engine spec differences between the two , surely they didn't just put a turbo on the na xr3i cvh engine ? I heard at the time the rs turbo was capable of 250 bhp

Not 100% on engine spec. Different compression ratio and pistons, sodium filled valves ring's a bell compared to the XR3I.
But as said it was massed produced and not a homologation derived model which the RS1600i, Series One and 3-door cosworth were.

The RS1600i had koni shocks as standard with the rears being adjustable and it shared a twin front anti-roll bar with the Series One.
The Series 2 just had a regular front ARB.

As with the mk1 xr3i, these rotted badly along the sills under the carpet.

Tiger stripes Hmmmm !!!!!!!
I looked at one like that in Biggin Hill before Shane found me the one I bought in Exchange & Mart.

I could put my fist into the sills on the tiger striped one and the seat bolsters were knackered.

For the money I was spending I had decided knackered bolsters/worn Recaro were the norm.

Then Shane pointed out the one in Exchange & Mart, I think the following week.
Both cars were for sale for the same price, IIRC around £3700.

The reason the one I bought had not already sold was due to a very poor advert.
Back then E&M did not have pictures and the advert was something like "Series 1 Escort Turbo, 2-Stage Boost, Good Condition".

When I called the guy in NE London he went on to say it had been through a full restoration with end-2-end photographs with new front and rear slam panels, 2 new wings, a new door, fully refurbished Recaro's and Lepson refurbished alloys.
I remember asking if all the replacement panels were genuine Ford, and they were, as could be seen in the photo's.

To say I couldn't get up there quick enough would be an understatement.

As soon as I got there and saw it on the drive I knew it was going to be mine.

When I sold it (regrettably now) along with my Suzuki Bandit to fund my 1st Subaru, I sold it for £3900. The guy had looked at one for £5250 the same weekend and promptly ripped my arm off.

I did try to buy it back a while later, by offering him a deal on my 3-Door Cosworth but he did not have the funds due to a new house.
I think about 8 months later DVLA show it as a loss

I'd just been up to Elite in Essex and had Koni adjustables fitted, 3 days later it was stolen!

I learnt a good lesson though, always get agreed value insurance, Adrian Flux ripped me right off, paid me out £1600 for it.

Was my first car with a turbo, bought it from Hawley near Dartford and drove it home to Bexleyheath, big smiles all the way.

I owned this car 2011/2012, sold it on to a guy in Sheffield. I did a fair bit of work to it and it was a very solid and original car. I bought it off a guy in Wigan and before that a chap called Les owned it for 21 years if I recall, I assume that this is your dad?
Some pics of when I had it.
