Non airbag seats

Finally got some of the more side hugging seats without the airbag, but what do I have to do to stop the airbag light comming on?

dude,let your insurance company know for sure!
i know removing safety equipment like airbags and airbag seats upsets some of them.
my mates company wouldnt insure his car anymore once he did his!!

unfortunatley he had allready sold his wheel and seats!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rang his insurance company on my recomendation and was told have them back in within 24 hrs as uninsured,couldnt get them back so told them,they said you have invalidated your policy and it was null and void!!!!!(he was 2 months into a one year policy)
no refund no cigar!!contacted the insurance ombudsman to be told they were right!!!!
lesson learned.

i must say having seen a blobeye like mine in a BIG side impact the side airbags from the seats saved the driver!!
also the average replacement bucket seat is designed to be used with a helmet(lika a rollcage)and in an accident can do more damage than good!

Tis a good point, I'll give Gary a call before I fit them. There not bucket seats though, just the non-airbag versions of whats in there already.

agreed, can't see it being a problem. my wrx has the non-airbag bucket style seats as standard, and i'm pretty sure all the STI seats haven't got airbags either (certainly the older ones, not sure about hawkeye/hatch)

Can't see it being an issue with Gary - probably doesn't even know yours has airbags as most that age don't.

Back to the question though...anyone seen a thread on how to sort the air bag light out?

cant you just remove the bulb?
dash out is about 5 minutes

If your with gary you will not have a problem .
Scott may be up for turning the light off for you otherwise simon aka jolly green can sort it for you

I remember reading a thread a year ago about a resistor mod, just cant find it anywhere now

i'm pretty sure its a 3 ohm resistor in the socket under the seat to sort it, i've seen the info about somewhere too.....

edit/
a quick search of scoobynet has shown that people have got it to work with both 3.2 and 3.3 ohm resistors

worth a go - i expect the resistor will cost about 10p!

and disconnect the battery before removing the old seats just in case

Nope, today I spent half the day getting the hub changed...bastard thing! Dont think any of the nuts had ever been undone since she was built. Was a breeze gettting the new one on though.

Also got one of the STI struts on, doing the other 3 tomorrow. Before we get bloody snow again!
