I only stopped at 491 as it broke a rear driveshaft on the dyno.. no had time to get it back on there again.. it is quicker now than it was then.. and stripped 5th last week.. oops..
but it sat outside ready to play this weekend

wasn't actually that bad.. I had it up and running within a month of starting just using my spare time and drove it from Kent to York for Scoobyshootout. Funny enough the shell came from york. Then the usual changed and alterations whilst it is in use.

I have since gone from the 2.5L to 2.35L and had the engine bay sprayed whilst the engine was out. Can't decide whether to put the 2.5 in the daily driver or not at the moment.

I also have a GT35R turbo in the garage for it but cannot decide whether to stick with current setup as is feels so nice at 500ish.

I had an evo 6 for nearly a year.. was a very nice car but I never felt attached to it in anyway.. went well.. handling was superb.. dunno why.. maybe too many scoobs (had 5).
I had a scoob and an evo at the same time and just found myself going for the scoob keys all the time..

Is that a 2.35 stroker kit ?
If so do you get an occasional puff of smoke on start up, which I think is due to the extra stroke exposing an oil way by the gudgeon pin or sumink !!!!

Thinking of building a stroker, but not sure I could tolerate the embarassing smoke on start.

its not a stroker kit as such.. in that I didn't buy a kit.. but yes it is a 2.5 crank and custom rods and pistons to suit in an ej22T (closed deck 97mm block with oil squirters).
The block was machined to take the newer crank and I have 14mm WRC spec head studs and the 2nd wildest cams I have ever played with.. lol
I have carrillo rods, je pistons. I went over board really and just went for best of the best..
it is 600+ capable.. cossie baffle plate, baffled sump, cossie cambelt guide, kevlar cambelt, vernier pulleys, cermaic coated headers, turbo is standard fitment but I rotated it anyway..
I don't get oil smoke no.. this engine doesn't use a drop.. yes the oil control rings pass the gudgeon pin inspection holes.. but doesn't appear to be an issue..

as to embarressing - the twin plate clutch is very very loud on this one (os giken) and the cams mean an idle of 1200rpm.. currently I am altering the driveway so it gets parked up on a raised bit of the drive which means diagonally two wheels off the ground spinning or a run up lol.. neighbours love me.

Simon,
I posted on 22B but maybe you can help here.
What would you recommend for a rebuild STi 8 block, that currently has good crank and block but knackered pistons.
I would like to go largest capacity possible for the extra torque.
considering doingitmyself as would like to pick up some mechanical skills.
Done most things over the years as you know but have never stripped or rebuilt a block.
If you wanna start this as another thread in technical, we can do that.

2.5 out

baffled sump

cossie baffle plate

kevlar belt and cossie belt guide

version 6 ported and polished head with adaptors and heat spacers to convert to version 1 inlet manifold

front entry version 1 inlet manifold widdenned to fit above, billet fuel rails

adjustable cam wheels etc

ATi oil filled damper crank wheel

engine bay masked

engine bay sprayed

in she goes, you can see the nervous evo6 wondering what I was going to do to that next

crap pic of ceramic coated headers

boost v bhp

2.5 crank, custom rods and pistons 2.1L... I would only bore it for the next pistons.. won't gain by boring it larger due to the bore thickness..

If you don't do many miles and want torque go 2.5

yes but not on track.. car is getting louder (with your exhausts) and I got annoyed at goodwood with my quiet exhaust tripping the meters on track..

black induction hose has arrived just not had time to fit

new downpipe custom made by TFS Racing

old and new turbos compared

twin scroll uppipe and headers

Hoping to sort the slight header leak and see an improvement in spool, else the uppipe will be getting modified etc

That's not rust Tim.

That's scorch marks from where he goes through the sound barrier and into another space and time continuam.
