Default Brands Hatch Track Afternoon - CANCELLED

CANCELLED Due To Weather

I know it was mentioned on the novice evening thread that people would be up for a track afternoon, with the 105db limit.

Are folks still up for it?

just had a look on the ClubMSV site.

there's a PM session on Tuesday 27th July which gives 4 hours open pit lane, and is only £99. Only problem is that its a novice session, so whilst it'll suit most of our members, i know a few (Moley included) that won't be allowed in

Can't find any other sessions that allow any drivers at Brand though....

Open pit events are the best ones.

You can out for 10-15 mins, then come back in for half an hour. Basically come and go as you like.

Or you can stay our for the full 4 hours..... but i wouldn't recommend that!!!

I'd be up for that if its a novice evening event. Would be a giggle to see how the Saab performs round the track. If it performs anything like it did down to leman I'd be happy. But then my driving skills are likely to let me down

I wish I had some money.

I would love to do the GP circuit.

But it ain't going to happen.

Perhaps admin would like to sponsor me.

Like that will happen after Worzels finished sucking poo.

Maybe so mate, but i was never pushing hard at the Ring because i didn't know the place.

After a few laps round Brands GP i'd start to think i know it!

looking at the ClubMSV site theres not a lot of dates to play with but we'll definately sort this out as there seems to be good interest

There's the 20 minute taster sessions evening (like we did before) on Thursday 16th - which is the day after the Driver Training day for those going, or a half day open pit lane on the 20th September. Unfortunately the afternoon session is already full booked Both of these days are novice only, so up to 3 trackdays experience in the past.

Other than that, the only options are full days - but starting at £179 per place! We might have to keep an eye on new dates when they are made available and go from there.....

I am thinking the same. Once the training day is over then I will start to look at another small session around Brands like the taster one we done. Just had new tyres, battery and service so the RB milking the old funds at the mo! But up for another scooby day like we did as it was much better when we know each other. I was up at Brands a few weeks back and it was full of plums in anything from Lambos to wheel barrows!

We haven't sorted another one yet... there weren't too many available dates at Brands for this time of year last time we checked. But we'll definately sort another one out

edit/ just re-checked the ClubMSV site and theres a half day (novice) on the 1st Dec - £65 morning, £75 afternoon. Which is pretty cheap for a 3 hour open pit lane.... anyone fancy it?

i think we'd better start a list then!

This is for Wednesday 1st December:
1. Steve_PPP
2. Midlife2
3. Scooby Greg
4. Moley_WRX
5. Anger
6. Worzel

Any preference for morning or afternoon session? Morning is cheaper but it could be a bit nippy/frosty at 8am in December!

I expect we'll pick one session or the other (am/pm).

Its a 3hr open pit lane, so basically you're on your own to go round the track as much as you like, pitting when you like (when the brakes fade!). You can bring your own lid if you have one thats good enough, or you can hire one of theirs (for a tenner i think).

T'is good fun but recommend getting some track cover from Moley!

Going to sticky this thread as i'm sure we can get enough numbers to go ahead. Had a brief chat about it with a few people at today's meet and think the afternoon session is definately a better idea for the extra tenner. The signing on for the morning sessions starts at 7:30am, bugger that for a game of soldiers!

Just spoken to Nick at ClubMSV and he's advised the following:

- Theres plenty of space on the afternoon session at present.
- The session did show 98db on the web, but Nick's advised that this was a mistake and it is actually a 105db noise limit. The evening session we did earlier in the year (with photoshoot) was 102db so most people should be fine for this one
- If we get 10 names or more from SES, then they'll do 10% off for everyone (which can include extras like helmet hire, additional passengers/drivers, instructors etc).
- If we get 10 names, they'll also reserve us enough pit lane garages for no charge.

Considering we've already got 9 people on the list, there must be a few more who fancy it Just remember its listed as a novice session.

yes, its an additional option when you book your slot. It costs £25 but i'm not sure how long that gives you with an instructor in an open-pit session.

I'd recommend having an instructor for sure, made a massive difference.

Another option is for SES to hire their own instructor for afternoon.
Some pro race drivers offer this as a service.

This guy does it i think (and won @ Brands driving Zen's car in 2008)

Me too. Are you thinking of sharing the cost of bringing someone along then, as opposed to using the instructors at Brands? (no idea how good they are in comparison?).

Anyone else fancy this? £75 for a 3hr open pit at Brands

One more gives us ten on the list, then i can speak to ClubMSV about booking us as a group.

Will be speaking to ClubMSV in the next day or two to confirm if we'll get any group discount on the 9 cars rather than 10.

If not, we'll have to go with what we've got and get booked up - unless there's anyone else interested?

Well, I've got poo news. My piggy is taking longer than anticipated to fix itself and I now have a consult with surgeon on the 1st Dec. and I'm not allowed to drive until I see him.
It's all going to be undo-able as being "able to drive" does not mean "able to stamp it around a race track".
Sorry if this messes things up. I'm as gutted as ... Well very.

Bit of an update for everyone.

I've spoken to ClubMSV again and as it looks like we'll fall short of the 10 people required for a discount, we'll have to go ahead and book up individually.

Can everyone go here and book directly for the afternoon PM session on Wednesday 1st December (£75).
http://www.clubmsv.com/car-home/even...?productid=626

There are currently 13 spaces available but they are open to the public so first come, first served etc.

When booking, the website asks you where you heard about the trackday event. Please select 'Club Website/Forum' then 'Other' and add 'South East Scoobies' like below:

Please remember:
- Its a 3hr open pit so come in and out as much as you like.
- 105db noise limit (most people will be fine with this)
- Novice session (max 3 track days experience)
- Brands can supply helmets and driver training at additional cost (added options when booking online).
- Sort some trackday insurance out - better the be safe than sorry!

Officially... No, not a chance!

In reality... It depends how busy they are, how much they want your money and how much they feel like fudging the results from the db meter!

Not sure what system you have but most people earlier in the year were reading lower than they expected. Only the loudest of cars failed (and nobody who had paid their money failed).

Daft thing is i had mine measured at Goodwood and then at Brands, the readings were completely different. So you'll only know 100% if you get it checked by Brands themselves.

Nuts. Said to the other half about it this morning after reading on here last night.
She suprisingly gave me the thumbs up to get a new crash hat and she said she'd pay for the day too!! Result.

Bloody Team Ice system. I'm sure a few years ago (Anger may remember this) at Japfest we tested my car and it only read 98.5dB . But..........having said that that was on the OE headers and VF35.

My sports cat helps but not sure? Not as loud as a full classic on decat with the same system.

Steve

I run only 250bhp on a heavy newage (standard WRX PPP) and still had a massive hoot at the last one we did

And theres not a massive difference on a track between a 250 and 350bhp car round Brands, as the straights not that long.

If thats the case, my gut feel is still that you'd be ok. But obviously its a risk and up to you mate.

Last time they read most cars well below what everyone was expecting....
