Will gets some pics up. Not really a fan of the look but saw the Spec R and it just looks awesome as the sedan, not sure about the hatch.

Test drive now completed..............

Adelaide Hills destroyed.................

Got to the delaership this morning at 10am. Been raining so wasn't to optimistic for a hearty blast but the roads were drying out.

Anyway, got in the the car and started up, good throaty note and not like my MY08. Box ticked

Started fidling with the Idrive thingy only to be told that the #S mode won't engage until the transmission has warmed up.......................floored it

Transmission now warm and #S engaged, diff manually adjusted to max rear. Off we go.

That #S sharpens the cars reaction up to the ridiculous, I would breathe on throttle and we'd be off [400Nm at 4000rpm it's got some grunt].

So the rest is a little tale:

Up my usual route home to the Hills and the car was just awesome it was pin sharp, roll was minimal if not un-noticeable. Feedback from the steering was fantastic, it was like driving a car again and not a computer.

Took a couple of sharp corners at speed and the thing just kept going. We did go round a hairpin on the quick side and tree roots had raised the road somewhat, back end flew out due to harsh suspension and damp roads but the thing just got back on track and we disapeared up the road.

After that a few hairpins that got the traction control concerned, and my passenger but to be honest I would have preferred if it had let me accelerate out.

Another plus were the Brembo's......kin hell they can see off speed quicker than Keith Richards at an amphetamine party.

So got back and all boxes have been ticked....'cept one.

Missus gets in car, "Oh, I'm only going round the block, don't worry will be 5mins"

So 50 minutes later she rocks up. Looking like this . Last box ticked.

So pretty much strike the deal and get a call that her sister's getting married and the hen nights in Vegas next August [we live in Aus so gonna cost $].

Currently sat cross legged in the dark counting my copper drawer cos Monday there's one on order

Pics below [note was shaking like a 'itting dog and it's a new point and shoot so not sure what happened to the first two]

Great tale Roo!!!!!

That rear view looks really tough with the spoiler and exhausts. It says "overtake me at your peril" or something like that.

Glad your wife likes it too!!!

Is that an Exiga I see in the background of one of the shots?

My current WRX in black.....STi............black.

Looking at the Spec R at the moment. Has the Recaro seats remind me of my MY99. Only real let down are the seats, base still too wide though the side bolsters are decent.

Interior still hard plastic but looking better.

The seats seem to have gone down hill steadily since the classic. They were better than the bug, the bugs better than the blob, and as for my Hawkeye seats, well the least said the better!.

Love the "Keith Richards" line PMSL

Great report Roo

Looks pretty damned tasty in the pics too, it goes to prove that the ones I have seen so far have done it no justice at all.

I'm looking forward to ongoing reports and tales from Oz mate

So what's the difference. Suprised that there is a difference, are they ahead or behind Asia/Paicifc?

Also, do they all run on 98 RON, they seem to insist here.

In tomorrow to sign papers [best thing is the company will upgrade my fuel card to buy 98RON Vpower ]

Piccies will be along as soon as I take delivery [so months the way this country works]

Not sure about the UK spec but Aus Spec comes with standard STi seats [WRX seats but with larger side bolsters]. Have to upgrade to the Spec R to get Recaro's.

I was a bit put out that they wouldn't do the bog standard with Recaro's. Spec R is expensive and has air con and a sun roof [waste IMHO].

Didn't stop me ordering a Spec R.........4 weeks and counting
