I want to buy a trolley jack.
To make it easier changing wheels rather than using the OE. I have been looking at several different ones idealy, (I think) I would like it to be made of aluminium and with a large end with a rubber to avoid any damage to paint work etc. I am after a low entry high rise idealy. What weight lifting capacity do I need I am thinking 2 tons or will a 1.5 ton be safely adequate, and to lift 2 wheels up at a time.

I have a Clarke Racing 1.25ton aluminium jack, low entry with rubber pad. It cost £90 but worth every penny. I used to have a halfords jack and then a snap on one, this Clarke is the best so far in my opinion. has no problem holding my mates VR4 front end lol

Kerb weight is just under 1.5 tonnes, so 1.5 tonne capacity will be fine to lift an end or side. My one that u borrowed is a halfords Iirc and have had it about 15 years.

I have both of the 2 different size 2ton jack Halfords have sold over the last couple of years... Neither will go under my car now without driving on to a block of wood or similar first!
