Default Gas Guzzler Love Affair

Saw this article today and it nearly made me cry...

Some old yank getting £1.70 a gallon at Costco in his new truck which does 12mpg and his old motor did 3mpg and he didn't give two sh*ts.

Interesting reading.

So fuel prices over ther dropped from roughly $4 per gallon to $3, and in 2010 over half the vehicles sold in the US where SUVs or pickups. Be interesting to see what happens to their manufacturers when fuel rockets back up then - they're miles behind the rest of the world in the economy stakes!

It is crazy tho, it was about $1.90 per gallon when i was there in 2005, and we drove our 3.8 V6 hire car for 2500 miles through six different states.... didn't feel it was expensive at all

I remember it being around $3 when I was there last year.

We drove from Vegas, through Death Valley and Yosemite to end up in San Fransisco. The petrol was absolutely nothing in comparison.

Heres another interesting article on Toyota Prius and its got some facts i didnt know - 'Diesel vehicles currently account for about 2.6% of the US market, though this is expected to rise to 6.8% by 2015 and 8.1% by 2020, the firm predicts.'

2.6% .. and only 8.1% by 2020?! Surely half the cars on UK road are diesel?!

I guess it puts things into perspective.

I have to admit, I found the lack of Deisel sales quite a shock. But then again, they all love their V8's over there, as they do in places like Austrailia.

As for the Prius, I honestly would rather take "Shanks's Pony"
