Default Mark Higgins sets new Isle of Mann TT record in a Scoob

Just seen that rally driver Mark Higgins has broken the four wheel record round the Isle of Man TT course, having just lapped the 37 mile Isle of Man TT Course in a Scooby averaging 113.505mph!

As I understand it that was a standard production STi with just basic safety modifications. I think he will be having a couple more cracks at beating that over the course of the TT week.

Hopefully there will be video to follow!

I just read that the complete lap in the Scoob took 19:56 (the bike record is just over 17 minutes?), which was done on normal road tyres. Supposedly a run on slicks is planned for later in the week!

Not quite as standard as you first think though, running on race fuel and mapped by Enginemapper!

I have done a few laps on my bike last year, and believe me it is not a bike friendly course roads are real bumpy, would be much wasier in a car.... You have to have a big set of Balls to do the speeds these guys do in a car or bike!!!!

ooohh that was a scary moment, you could tell the relief afterwards when he asked the passenger if he was ok.

jesus. the consequences of losing it at that speed in those surroundings would be shocking. so much street furniture, kerbs, trees and walls

an amazing event, but a seriously scary one!
