Some of you may know from recent chats that the brakes on my 99 sti are absolutely shockingly pants. :zoiks:
After a recent inspection yesterday it seems like only half of the 4 pots on the fronts are working! (both sides) The rear faces of the disc's were rusty in colour so i take it the back pistons are not producing any pressure?, and there seemed to be more rust on the brake pad guide pins and caliper guides where the pads sit than on the blooming titanic, so i then took off the rubber dust seals to find even more crap. ![]() So as you would do when finding such poop i decided to do a general strip down, dremel off all the rust and lube everything up with copper grease and soak all the pistons in WD40, then put back together and test. After a quick blat it does seem to of improved but not greatly! so now i have ordered a complete seal kit for all the brake calipers back and front and ill see what that does after a full strip and service, but im not holding my breath for miracles. Im also thinking of putting in some new front pads, EBC?? fast road perhaps?? Can anyone help one here with prices? ![]()

You could give Ian Godney a shout for some replacement pistons (stainless steel) as well good prices on discs and kevlar pads.
Or give alyn (AS performance) a shout.

Oh well here goes, off out into the cold to take the calipers all off hopefully. Gonna take a flask of tea and a few packets of biscuits and i think this is going to be quite nerve racking, i could be out there for some time.

Yeah i got them all off in quite a good time and was then dragged shopping by the
![]() So today hopfully ill take them to bits, get the old wire brush out on the drill and spruce them up with a nice spray of paint once masked up . Then its just a matter of waiting for the new seals before i put them back on and re bleed. Jaffa not long bled them but it seemed the first thing was to check for air and to get the crap oil out. suppose now ill have to do the search for front brake pads??
