Currently have silver zunsport grills on the car but cant help thinking that they look too soft and that black would look better. Any advice how to go about painting them?

Its got to be something hard wearing otherwise you'll be re-doing them every month as the paint chips away!
Black hammerite/smoothrite is pretty tough stuff and might be a good bet if you can paint it on without it looking too rough? |

Did you key the surface at all or just spray the primer straight on (after degreasing)?

A light wet and dry will always help mate, I did on my grill and it has helped a lot

I did mine by using a scotch pad to key the surface then sprayed with hammerite smoothite satin, has lasted 2 years without needing touching up.
Looks so much 'harder': Before: ![]() After ![]()

You won't need to Hammerite it if you get the mesh from Halfords.
If you opt for it get the (10mm) as we calculated the airflow/protection will be better with 10mm rather than the 6,8 and 12 they offer. I've had mine on for several years up behind cars at silly speeds, tracking etc and it still remains unmarked. I will knock you up an image later and fire it in this post. I think it blends well as it compliments the "balckness" of inside the scoop. |
