Default My first Scooby ownership maintenance experience

So I'm off to SMD, who came very highly recommended, tomorrow for my first experiance of Scooby ownership maintenance. Having timing belt, pulleys, water pump etc and front pads and discs done by them. Let's just say im glad it's not something that needs to be done regularly £££!! Will report back with my experiance, considerably lighter in the wallet/bank balance area, haha. At least I'm not visiting the petrol station too often......oh wait!

Brent and Luke always do a good job and it will cost less than it would elsewhere too

Yeah I've read on here and been told by a few people they are very good.

They say it's not worth doing just the belt as its off you may as well replace the lot. If the water pump packed up the next day, I'd have to replace the belt again so may as well do it all.

I had my pump done and all the idler pulleys when my belt was changed. It's not totally necessary but good 'belt and braces' approach

seems a lot of scare mongering going on these days about water pumps in particular caused i think by the fact that the likes of VAG group cars have had some major issues and do require a one at each belt change.......

have been dealing with Subaru's in parts supply, servicing, modding, etc. for 15yrs+ and only ever really provide water pumps on engine builds as they rarely go wrong......

Thank you all for your comments. Perhaps I'm a bit naive as its my first one but I'm happier knowing exactly where I stand with bits like that. Ott probably but I'll only worry, especially until I know a lot more about these cars.

Learnt a few things about the car, it wasn't a warped disc, it was the caliper that was loose. Luckyily for me, it didn't come off, although by all accounts it wasn't far off. The bolts where stuck in and had threaded so had to be drilled out as two snapped in the caliper. All sorted now though.

Going back for a full service in three weeks and having front brake hoses replaced as they are perishing. Very happy with the level of service, couldn't ask for more from them. It's had water/meth mix and an induction kit on it at some point also. The later will be going on again soon I think Other than that it's all good which is reassuring to know.
