Default Road Dressing.... ($h1te stones everywhere!) - Rant warning!

Need to get this off my chest, sorry to rant on here...but im really rageing!!
Using my Scoobs every day to take the better half to work in Bognor, and then plant myself at a desk in Chichester every day in my sc00bs I find myself travelling over several "Surface Dressing" roads for the last few weeks,..
I have driven exceptionally slowly even taken massive detours to avoid these, yet my car is still peppered with stone chips and covered in tar spots from the last few weeks, receiving some very large chips to the bonnet of my car from cars travelling in the opposite direction, as well as several "extra" little numbers on the windscreen.
Tonight was the final biscuit sat at the level crossing at Woodgate on the A29 a car coming in the opposite direction passed a cyclist (driving on the crown of the road and some painted cross hatchings to do so) which sent a shower of stones flying up at my car, one of which hit the rear OS door just below the window breaking the paint down to the metal, This stretch of the A29 was surfaced more than a week ago, yet it is still a complete mess with stones anywhere off line and stones all over the pavements etc.
I have removed all the Tar from my car several times in the last month + now am looking at several hundred pounds worth of bodywork repair as a result of all this "surface dressing"
What ever happened to Rolling the stuff into the road!!!

I'm giving serious consideration to seeking legal action against West Sussex county council, but I’m pretty sure I’m fighting a completely lost cause
Picked this out from the Council website... which made me even more angry !!

“This is a very cost effective way of protecting and prolonging the life of our roads.”

No SH1T! cost effective because you just throw stones all over the road and leave them !

He added: “It’s quick and easy and traffic can be allowed to run on the new surface almost immediately - avoiding lengthy closures and disruption.”

Yes emptying a lorry on the road and driving off in a hurry is quick and easy!

“Sealing the road in this way prevents water getting into the foundations and weakening the road, which can lead to potholes developing. Other benefits include an increase in skid resistance which helps improve road safety.”

It also increases the depth of pot holes, blocks drains, wears tires out faster and does nothing about the general un-even crap that it is laid upon,

Has anyone on here had any similar experience recently.. has anyone on here been successfully awarded compensation/reimbursed the cost of repairs from the council (fat chance I know.. )

Sorry for the rant..

A normally quite happy..

Stone topping. Cheapest and nastiest way of providing a new surface.

Should be banned.

Take some photos of the area they have resurfaced where the stones are still all over the place and also the fresh damage to your car and try and put a claim in to the council, the worse they can say is no. I've had a wheel replaced before courtesy of Kent county council before from a pothole, highways departments do have a budget for accidental damage...

you can bet as soon as you contact them that stretch of road will have a sweeper down it in a matter of hours!!

The state of our roads is frankly embarrassing!

Any of the group who have just returned from Germany can vouch for just how good the roads are on the continent.

To the point, the topic on the ferry home with quite a few people was how they were dreading driving on our roads again. As soon as we left the M20 at Aylesford, it was dodge the pothole all the way back to Crowborough, and some were unavoidable because there were so bloody many!

I could rant on about this for hours, so I had best stop!

Sorry to hear about your problem matey.

Much of Europe seem to use 6mm DBM Tarmac which provides a very smooth finish.
The UK use it but not very often.
