Default dealer prices on second hand STI's

During my daily trawl through Pistonheads I have noticed that more and more dealers are snapping up some of the cheaper cars and the mark ups are massive. A couple of nights ago there was an 06 STI (in black ) up for £5600. It had 94,000 on the clock, hence the price I guess. Its now up with 'boys toys' for £8995 (who apparently only sell mint cars) with the same pics!!. Are people actually paying this money. On a side note I see Sim's old RB5 is slowly coming back down as well. Started in mid £6k's now £5495.

I spoke to the Guy with the Sims/Neils old RB, I asked what he'd done to warrant the price increase.

He said it needed quote " shed loads of work to get it running right "

Then got a bit grumpy/****ty with me. Idiot!

MarkT sold his blob STi the other day for £8,400 private sale. Low mileage, but shows some people do still pay strong prices.

As for "boys toys" I think that's a really crud bit of marketing. I wouldn't shop with a business called that!

£8400 isn't that high imo for a mint blob STI with only 35,000 miles. Examples like that are getting hard to find....

Oh, and i agree re: the business name!

It's not ludicrously high, but for a private sale I reckon it would be at the top end. Think he got a touch of luck as the buyer wanted it when it was at Hurst cars.

I'd always expect a hit on private sale. Maybe I'm overly pessimistic though... quite likely!

STI's both blobs and hawks are holding there money well now, and seem to be slightly more than what they were going for 1-2 years ago. Fair play to boys toys if people are mug enough to pay the premium for a dodgy warranty and a coat of wax. But most dealers are happy if they could clear a few hundred on any car after all expenses.

Agreed rob, when I think I got 9k just over 2 years ago it's not really dropped atall. Just my luck!! Having said that late blobs seem to be making more due to engine etc.

Saw mark T's ad and it almost tempted me back into a blob.
