Default Anyone got an LED TV yet?

Its time to change the tv. Its not even flat, so well overdue. I've been looking at the new Samsung Led's which seem to be the thing to go for. Anyone got one? I know not alot about these so before parting with my hard earned, i want to be sure i go for the right one.

Don't know anything about them but was looking at these awhile ago, excellent picture quality and i think thats the way i'll be going next time. Or you could go for the 3D tv, was watching one in Harrods a couple of weeks ago....they take abit of getting used to.

Yep,pretty good make.
Would personly go Sony Bravia(have got a 50 inch and 40 inch LCD of those)
Try and get a 100htz one.
Our 40 inch one is that type and you can really see the difference.
Plus there comming down in price since the 200htz are out(even better obviously but mega bucks)

I saw a samsung a little while ago in comet, wicked picture and really crisp compared to all other makes. Would also recommend sony bravia but with either i dont think you'll go far wrong just make sure its 100hz.
Im also after a new flat screen when i finally move this year and i shall be looking at both of these makes in either 40 or 50 inch!!!

If you need the right one then it's got to be the Panasonic viera it alway's comes out on top in the most respected reveues.

A point to add is its only worth going 100htz and 40+ inches if your going to watch HD tv broadcasts.
I have a samsung 42" plasma 100htz and Sky HD, really nice picture and not a huge amount of money.

Hmmm,dont agree with that buddy.
We have a 50 inch LCD non 100htz in the lounge and 40 inch LCD 100htz in the bedroom and we can really see the difference the 100 htz makes to even a low grade dvd or a normal tv channel.
We do have sky HD and it really shows on those channels and blue rays, but also on the low quality stuff too.

We have been thinking of replacing our's for the past god only knows how long!

We also have not gone flat yet we brought a Panasonic along time ago and to be honest for how we use the TV we have not seen a replacement that offers the same or better features or picture improvement and yes 100hz all the way.

If I was to replace tomorrow I would go with a Viera, LCD under 42' , plasma over 42'.

Was tempted by the LED samsung but probably only because its 'new tech' more than anything else, having read the Avforums review I will hold of a little longer myself.

Just a word of warning about comparing different TV's in a place like this - be sure you are comparing like with like!

I've found that certain TV's are fed full HDMI High def whist other TV's (sometimes right next to it) are fed SCART or even coax- type inputs....

I wouldn't bother spending the extra fortune on LED mate. It all depends on what you want the telly for as well. Plasmas are good for sports etc as they have less blur but LCD are best for gaming etc.

I've got an LG 37" LCD which cost me a penny shy of £500 and the picture is fantastic, Sky HD through it looks amazing and even the footy is outta this world (in HD).

If you were thinking of going for the LED because it's so thin, again I wouldn't bother. I was speaking to a chap in our local Sony Centre the other day and he mentioned that they give no better a picture than the LCD's and he showed me an LCD TV that was just as thin as the LED...........cool Can't remember which model it was though I'm afraid.

I'd probably consider an LED TV when they came down in price, which they inevitably will

Cheers for all the info guys. I have gone for a samsung LED 40". It was £999 in currys and comet. Just ordered it online through dixons for £866!. Free delivery aswell, which the others wanted £19. Tryed to get them to price match but wont match internet companys. Bit strange as I seem to think that currys own dixons .

That's a good price for an LED TV, especially a 40" one

I have just up graded myself from a old 36in to a Samsung LED 46in 7020 but it was hard to make my mined up because every one said some thing different. Samsung are still doing money back until the 24th in the smaller outlets I got mine from Richer sounds with cash back for £1250 plus £125 for a 5 year guarantee.
