Default Fitting headers/uppipe easy job or turbo off ?.

I'm looking to sort a blowing flexi on some after market headers/uppipe on a car I pick up tmz, and I think its currently a one piece header uppipe unit.

I might be able to cut out and weld in a new flexi bit in, but either way the down pipe/headers etc will need to come off.

Do I need to take turbo off to do it on a my98/99 classic ?. Or can if all be done from underside ?. And is it a bitch of a job. ?.

Also Rocker cover gaskets fairly easy to change ?.

Cheers all
Rob

if the turbo isn't coming off the other way is to undo the engine mount and jack the engine upa touch. This gives enough clearane to withdraw the up-pipe.

the easy way to do it it to drive it to Tone's ....

If the headers are droped/removed wont the uppipe just drop out ?.

Was more wondering about whether you can get to all the studs and nuts with the turbo still in place. ?

I dont mind getting my hands dirty, and because I have my other one in the meantime I wouldn't mind getting a little more hands on with this one and learn a few more things along the way.

That said once I start looking at it, I might think twice and take the easy option of just paying Tone or Vince to do the job.

Well got the car, and had a good look today. The headers and uppipe are all one unit, so will need to come off complete. But looks like it can be dropped with the turbo still in place. But the downpipe is getting in the way of one of the nuts (a fancy angled spanner might let me get at it which I don't have) so looks like the downpipe needs to come off to gain access, in which case probably just as easy to pop turbo off as well to make life even easier......

My only hesitation now is my exhaust is just too noisey for me so need to research if a really quiet 3" bore back box exists. Else I will think about swapping the entire 3" hks system including downpipe for a 2.5" system.

So need to look into this before I do anything with the uppipe.

Milltek systems are quiet - I have a 3' system on mine.
