Default changing a knock sensor

Ok having a bit of trouble undoing the old knock sensor
Taken off IC n access is still a b'stard, theres a rubber/metal pipe about 2" bore runing right in the way to get the socket on,this tube is blanked one end (battery side) what is this pipe for and can i remove it ?
Dont want to be pulling pipes off that i dont know theyre for.
Any help apreciated

Nick it could be the return for the orginal dump valve if you have a vta one fitted now.I had to more this pipe out the way when i did mine.
This picture shows the standard valve.The pipe goes under the cooler then back across to the intake.

Agree, sounds like the return for the standard re-circ dump valve.
The left hand end will attach to a short flexi/rubber pipe then attach to the main intake hose just infront of the Turbo.

IIRC it's bolted to the underside of the intake manifold so would be hard to get off, and you would still need to blank it off if youi are using a VTA Dump Valve.

indeed thats the pipe, well as i cant move it any suggestions.
I cant get the socket onto the nut with it in the way, also tried a nuckle joint but to no avail.

i've changed 2 of these and if you think getting it out is difficult just wait until you try putting it back in. i fully feel for you but can't offer any advice. access is very tight, the connector is going in the other direction and doesn't have any slack and the sensor doesn't actualy thread in square its at an angle. massive amounts of perseverance(spelling) and some long long nose pliers and socket components did it for me.
