I try my best on dual carriageways/motorways plod along at 60mph, although normally give it a bit of stick on the slip road joining said roads.

I don't plod about trying to get high mpg in the scoob, too much like hard work! In the diesel though, economy mission every day on the commute

I had a Mazda RX8 231bhp and I must say the scooby is MUCH better on fuel than the RX8 and surprisingly has much much less rust than the RX8 even though the 8 was 2005 and the scoob is 1995...

Problem with the Evo is that it's on boost from just over 2000rpm... Very hard to keep off boost apart from motorway driving

Funny you say that, a friend of mine has an RX8 and its fuel consumption is shocking. Nice car but makes the scoob look economical!.

The Rx-7 and 8 are Rotary "****le" engines and are known to be completely crap for fuel economy the best you could expect from the old Rx-7 was about 13mpg which was a shame because it was absolutely brilliant to drive, they where also known to drink around a litre of oil every thousand miles!
Not driven an 8, felt quite depressed when Mazda bought it out minus the turbo from previous models. In the old classic wagon 333/329 I managed 347 miles on a tank, (crawled 140 on A roads and the rest on the M4) , I think I overtook like 2 cars on the A roads.. that was off boast with luggage and just me in the car.. driving spirited I managed to empty a tank in less than 140 miles ![]() I don't even try in the blob its just not worth it.. as Anger says.. off boost till its warm ![]() Think my average is around 210 a tank. edit.. Please forum mods " w a n k l e" is not a swear word :P

I do try to keep off the boost to get more mpg but on a dual carriage way or on the bypass that is near me it is so hard not to just boot it or when you get boy racers in their little 1 or 1.4 liter's trying to race you so I play with them for a while letting them get in front of me then boot it and leave them for dead while looking in my rear view mirror at them disappearing pmsl lol or when people sit on my bumper I tend to boot it while saying to myself

Pretty sure every RX8 owners who's had to pay for a rebuild and the fuel costs thinks it is!

I was averaging 350 miles to each tank on my Mountain trip, with a fully loaded car, and not really worrying about how heavy my foot was.

I found a few shells in Switzerland doing V-power nitro with 100 ron, rather than our 99.
The toll motorways in France had 99 too, petrol didn't seem to be as much of a ball ache as I thought it would be.
