Hiya,
Could i please get any ideas to my lovely Whining noise i get from my baby scooby its a 2002, 60,000miles....
It whines when i put my foot down (not necessarily booting it) and when its coming to slow down, im very worried its the turbo, or possibly the Alternator ?

Any thoughts ?

I agree with Nick ^^ a lot of scoobs get a whining noise on the over-run (when the car is still in gear but coasting to a stop. Does it suddenly stop if you press the clutch?

Wouldn't have thought the turbo would whine when you are coming to slow down, or the alternator.

Update ... lol
Just been out in the car, the whining is very loud now seems to be not as loud when booting it but when the revs come down the whining is there, seems to not be as loud when you press the clutch

If this makes any sense

As Anger said, what type of service was it? A normal service is just engine oil, dependant on millage, gear and diff oil is also done, or if you request it.

Who did the service?

the 60k service is the one where gearbox/diff oil should be changed, so it might have been missed. although i would be surprised if an oil change improved it significantly if the whining seems to have gotten worse so quickly.....

Hiya thanks again for your inputs

It was the service after the 60k as that was done early just as i bought the car last year (it was pampared! ), it was serviced at our local garage who has worked on all my cars etc, cant afford main dealer prices

Think im gonna have to send it into the garage again for them to hear the noise just to be on the safe side
